Rumors, Virtus Bologna: could Trento dream of Andrejs Grazulis’ return?

After Selom Mawugbe’s injury, is Trento dreaming of Andrejs Grazulis’ return? Is Virtus Bologna considering selling the Latvian player?

After the injury of pivot Selom Mawugbe, Dolomiti Energia Trentino is evaluating several options to cope with his absence, which will last for about three weeks. According to L’Adige, the current leader of LBA Serie A is primarily looking for an internal solution, but is not ruling out possible market moves (including a potential 6+6 change). One of the most intriguing options is the return of Andrejs Grazulis, a former player of Aquila Trento.

The Latvian big man, who transferred to Segafredo Virtus Bologna in the summer of 2024, has not had the season he expected. After undergoing knee surgery in the spring, his recovery has been slow, and his playing time so far has been minimal, if not nonexistent. In addition, his performances have not yet reached the standard of previous seasons, which has fueled frequent market rumors about a possible departure from the Vu Nere.

So far, Andrejs Grazulis has averaged 4 points, 0.8 rebounds, and 0.8 assists in 5 Serie A games (totaling 45 minutes played). In Euroleague, he has played just 8 minutes and 26 seconds, without recording any significant statistics.

Aquila Trento: Julian Gamble as an Alternative Option

In addition to the dream of Grazulis, another option for Aquila Trento could be Julian Gamble, former pivot of Virtus Bologna, who is currently a free agent after his stint in Mexico. According to SuperBasket, Gamble could be a valuable alternative to fill the gap left by Mawugbe, adding experience and physicality to the team’s frontcourt.
